Episode #67 Recommitment

It isn’t enough to make a decision to do something. In order to make it happen, you need to recommit to the goal. Not just once, but over and over again until it was done.

After the initial enthusiasm and excitement when we first commit to a goal, it’s easy to lose momentum or become distracted on your way to achieving it. What I’ve also found is that it’s easy to set goals. But setting goals and taking action to achieve them are completely different things.

That’s why in this week’s episode I want to introduce you to the concept of ‘recommitment’ – the act of recommitting to something you’ve already committed to in the past – as a way to boost your motivation and accelerate progress towards your goals. Recommitment can be used in connection with a goal, or a decision. But it could also be used in relation to a choice you have made – about who to marry, or where to work, for example.

It’s not enough to set a goal or even to make a commitment to achieve it. If you’re going to stay the distance, commitment is required again and again and again. Until the job is done.
