Episode #123 The Imposter Identity

How is your relationship with Imposter Syndrome?

The deeper this relationship, the more you will value yourself, the better you will show up to your work and the more others will value you.

My relationship with Imposter Syndrome used to be terrible.

I carried Imposter Syndrome around like a secret shame, determined to hide it, desperate to get rid of it. Certain that as long as I had it, I would never achieve my potential.

I tried every trick in the book to break free from it. Still, nothing worked. Not in a sustainable way. Not in a way that changed the way I felt when I had to speak up in meetings or when I sat down to tackle a hard task.

Then one day instead of fighting it, I stopped and decided to investigate it. That’s when I saw the value in it. That’s how I discovered it was my strength.

Now my relationship with Imposter Syndrome couldn’t be more different.

I’m proud to call myself an Imposter. It emboldens me and empowers me. It supports me and holds me. It elevates and distinguishes me. I succeed because of it, not in spite of it.

Imposter Syndrome is no longer something I have. It’s fundamental to who I am.
